Prints are able to make all clothes look incredible, even if it’s something very plain and simple. Some of those prints like polka dots and stripes have become timeless, and have remained on trend from season to season. So, wherever you wear it, you will always look on point.
I have picked all of ma favourite timeless prints and added my personal trendy cat-print clothes as a little bonus.
The real queen of street style catwalks is different types of plaid fashion pieces, from classic tartan, to Windsor, and dogtooth. Different plaid styles can help create a perfect wardrobe. However, you should know that plaids, can visually change your figure. Thus, I recommend to wear plaid pieces on areas of the body that you may not like as much. For example, slanting cage plaid can visibly stretch out your silhouette, while wearing a larger plaid print can make your figure appear more square like.
In terms of dogtooth, this print suits everyone regardless of weight and height! This is one of the many reasons this print will always remain on trend!
Stripes – is another timeless print that has boomed in the Coco Chanel era, and has never left the catwalks around the world.
However, horizontal stripes are most dangerous, they can really ruin the appearance of your beautiful figure. I usually wear these stripes with skinny jeans or leggings. As for the vertical stripes, they tend to visually extend your silhouette, so many stylist advice tall girls to abandon this print. However, I do not agree with them, and with my 176cm height I feel comfortable in stripes, they also make you appear slimmer.
Polka dots have only started making an appearance in my wardrobe after I have fallen in love with vintage fairs here in London.
I realised that this print is neat and classy. The only thing you should be aware with this print, is that large polka dots can make parts of your body appear larger, could be a win if you have smaller breasts, but would not recommend for curvy ladies. However, small polka dots suit all body types.
Floral print is also a relatively new addition to my wardrobe.
I prefer smaller ditsy flower prints. I also really like floral accessories, such as on belts, collars, etc. In terms of what type of florals suit different types of figures. I would recommend a ditsy floral print on a darker background for the beautiful curvy ladies. Bigger floral prints on lighter backgrounds would suit slender ladies.
And finally as a little bonus, a more unconventional Cat Print.
Some of you may prefer stars, or hearts, but cats are my personal favourite, because I am a crazy cat lady. The rule for this print is similar to the polka dot above. One other thing, maybe if you are over the age of 30 it may look a little silly on you. But you know, if you want to rock it go for it!
